A Secret Garden Wedding

A Secret Garden Wedding and Iranian Tradition: Shima and Ashley

Designing our Secret Garden was always one of the most exciting parts of our wedding venue journey.

Hidden down a twisting pathway, surrounded by trees and nested in Hertfordshire’s idyllic countryside, the garden makes for a wedding photographer’s dream and is the ideal blank canvas for an intimate outdoor ceremony.

Acoustic Wedding Music

The Secret Garden was at the heart of Shima and Ashley’s countryside wedding this July.

Shima took her guest’s breath away, walking from the farmhouse and into the garden to a live acoustic version of Elbow’s One Day Like This performed by one of our favourite local musicians.

Niamh has sung at a number of Lodge Farm weddings and once again, her voice only added to the beauty of the day. The couple also chose for Niamh to sing them out with a beautiful version of There She Goes.

Gorgeous Hertfordshire Flower Arch

Shima’s talented florist, Nicola stayed on site for the duration of the wedding and worked with Shima to meet her vision of beautiful bright hanging bouquets in the marquee and an archway of roses & dahlia’s to say vows beneath. The lovely Celebrant, Charlotte Roscow performed the personal and very intimate ceremony.

And as Shima and Ashley made their way from the ceremony towards the garden and marquee guests were handed hand dried petal confetti in wicker baskets to send the newly weds on their way. A glorious drinks reception followed on the terrace and guests were delighted to be served Sekanjebin – a traditional Iranian summer drink of honey, vinegar, mint syrup and cucumber along with firm favourites, peach bellini’s and elderflower spritz’s.

An Iranian Banquet

Entering the marquee guests were met with a lavish banquet artfully created by our fabulous caterers, Clark and Blackwell. The menu reflected perfectly the bringing together of the two cultures. Dishes included goats cheese arancini’, homemade taramasalata and Rose Harissa Beef Skewers amongst other!

Ashley’s beloved Beaverton beer was also in supply, quirkily served from a beautiful tin bath.

Shima’s vision of bright and beautiful flowers ran through the day and added the finishing touch to the three tier cake, which was decorated with delicate edible petals. Alongside the cake Clark and Blackwell catering served platefuls of Eton Mess and Rocky Road.

Wedding Glitter Station

Not to be outdone by the decor, guests made a beeline for a seat at the Glitter Station, where the team from Glitter Bar London applied plenty of sparkle and provided the perfect conversation starter for mingling guests.

Whilst not a wedding essential, the station created gorgeous photo opportunities (guests watching the sunset whilst doused in glitter!) and a fantastic wedding atmosphere.

Man’s Best Friend

We’re all familiar with a best man at the wedding – but what about man’s best friend? Our personal highlight of the day? A surprise guest in the form of Shima and Ashley’s beloved dog, Lola. Remind us never to leave a couple’s prized pooch off the invite list again!

Chloe and Darren’s Rustic Countryside Wedding at Lodge Farm, Hertfordshire

Countryside wedding venueCountryside wedding venue

Chloe and Darren’s vision of their big day? Rustic, adorned in flowers and embracing the best of British summertime.

Nestled in Hertfordshire countryside, Lodge Farm provided the ideal canvas for their picture perfect rural wedding.

Ideas for a garden venue

Maximising the outdoor space a three hat tipi transformed the garden to create a gorgeous summer festival feel.

Guests were greeted with champagne, canapés and an invitation to get competitive with a selection of traditional lawn games. Wedding guitarist, Rob Austen found a shady spot to play from whilst magician, Rob Austen entertained the couple’s friends and family.

Small touches created a relaxed and informal vibe; timings for the day were displayed on a reclaimed wooden pallet, bunting was hung tree to tree and a wrought iron flower stand created a nostalgic summer scene.

Tipi Wedding VenueA tipi wedding

Inside the tipi Chloe’s vision of a plentiful grazing table feast came to life. Guests built their own plates, choosing from a selection of salads, meats and cheeses to enjoy at long wooden trestle tables.

For dessert Chloe and Darren’s favourite cake was a must, decorated simply with a selection of summer berries.

Florist, Stephanie Rose used glass bottles to decorate the trestle tables with fairy lights and foliage. This perfectly complimented another of Chloe’s ideas for her big day; a truly unique floral display, as guests found their seat by way of a beautiful faux-flower framed mirror.

Picture perfect

Marking the occasion Bands for Hire’s, Soul Patrol filled the tipi with the sounds of Chloe and Darren’s chosen tracks.

Dusk settling marked an extra special moment as guests gathered on the lawn to light sparklers, whilst the band played the newlywed’s favourite song. And for those guests feeling the chill a bundle of warm and cosy blankets were provided.

Laura and Tom of Hertfordshire’s coveted wedding photographers, Love and Life Studio captured the moment beautifully.

Bespoke summer wedding with sparklers

A bespoke summer wedding

Working closely with Chloe and Darren in the lead up to their day ensured a bespoke celebration that reflected them as a couple, whilst making the most of our beautiful grounds.

Our top tip was to make the most of our tucked away Secret Garden; the perfect intimate setting for a photo opportunity that reflected the romance of the big day.

With the farm’s gorgeous gateways, rolling hills and equine residents as a backdrop, Chloe and Darren’s wedding album evokes memories of a relaxed summer’s day filled with family, friends and the most beautiful of summer time nuptials.

Lodge Farm First Wedding of 2019 – Amanda and Tom

On Saturday the 5th of May Lodge Farm hosted the first wedding of the season with the nuptials of gorgeous Amanda and Tom – and what a way to kick off the summer!

The weather posed a significant hurdle to the lodge farm team, with early wind, rain and (horizontal) hail threatening to halt all outside festivities, including the ceremony! Remaining in high spirits, the Lodge Farm team and the Lim and Gillespie families bided their time and kept all fingers and toes crossed for a clearing… and as if by magic, the clouds parted and the most glorious window of sunshine beamed down onto the lawn!

Guests and chairs were rapidly assembled and to the joy of all involved, Amanda and Tom had their dream of an outdoor wedding realised, in the most touching ceremony. As is always the case at the lodge, the stars aligned to bring everything together in the end!

Following the stunning ceremony, guests were ushered under the Celeste Pole Marquee where they were able to enjoy welcome drinks of bubbles, beers and spritz! No longer exposed to the elements which quickly closed in, the wedding festivities then commenced at full swing.

As the day guests enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast and were moved to laughter and tears in a cracking set of speeches. With bellies filled, and wine flowing then came the piece de resistance. The most rock-star moment in Lodge Farm history, entering the stage, the one and only Beverley Knight began to perform.

Lambasting tunes such as IIIIIII’mmmmmm every wooomaaaaaan and I have nothiiiiing, Beverley well and truly brought the house (or should we say marquee?) down. It took all our strength of our staff not to storm the dance floor and begin our own conga line! Please come back Beverley…

Dancing the night away, sipping the newly stocked and ever popular pink gin from our very own Tipsy Pony bar, love and joy filled the marquee to the early hours.

We couldn’t be happier to begin the season in this truly spectacular way and are every thankful to the Lim and Gillespie families for their relaxed, humorous and easygoing approach to their wedding. Without their smiles, positivity and ability to see the good in what could have been a disastrous weather situation, we are sure the wedding could not have been such a roaring success.

Lastly but not leastly, a big old thanks to the tireless team at Lodge Farm who worked hard to ensure a breezy (pun intended) and smooth running of what turned out to be a magnificent wedding. One down – 19 more to go!

Lodge Farm Wedding Venue Launches Stunning New Marquee

We were delighted to host our Open day on Sunday 20th May 2018 – and excited to see the launch of Country Tipis’ new Celeste Pole Marquee. Both the day and the marquee were impressive!

We started bright and early, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to showcase our tranquil wedding venue.

By offering the Celeste Marquee as an option along with the popular Tipis enables us to retain a rustic style which so suits our beautifully quaint and secluded garden, complete with a separate secret garden for your ceremony (or somewhere to put the kids)!

From when we opened at 2pm, we welcomed lots of prospective bridal couples for 2019/2020. It was lovely to see so much excitement about our  gardens and, of course, the brand new marquee. The sun shone and couples were able to enjoy a glass of fizz whilst sampling the delicious canapés kindly provided by our catering partner, Kingfisher Caterers. Sam Lewis provided a lovely musical backdrop on the terrace by playing some great mellow tunes on his guitar, which helped enhance the relaxed and informal vibe.

The marquee was stunningly adorned with the most colourful and beautiful floral displays provided by the massively talented Kerry from Foxgloves & Alice. Kerry’s natural relaxed floral style so suits our environment and along with the fabulous Olive Trees hired in from Vanstones, Codicote. The paper lanterns (provide by Fleur de Lace) were so spectacularly suspended from the sweeping high ceilings… the marquee looked amazing. It really does offer something unique for your special day.

The 24m x 12m marquee (triple pole) can seat up to 200 people, the 18m x 12m marquee (double pole) can seat up to 140 and the 12m x 12m marquee (single pole – circular) can seat up to 80 people.

Please bear in mind that these numbers depend on what else you’d like inside! Country Tipis pricing includes woven matted flooring (suitable for high heels) and lighting (fairy lights and LED up-lighters).

The day turned into the evening and we were overwhelmed by the encouraging feedback we had from couples visiting us on the day. It was such a pleasure seeing so many happy couples.

We very much look forward to hosting the couples that have chosen Lodge Farm House for their big day. If you would like to view Lodge House for your wedding venue, we’d be delighted to show our stunning, friendly venue. Please contact us to arrange an appointment.

Huge thanks to the other suppliers who helped make it a day to remember:

Lodge Farm House B&B just a couple of miles from Luton and London Luton Airport!

Lodge Farm House is a Victorian guest house set in over 20 acres of stunning Hertfordshire countryside, yet just a short journey from Luton.

It is hard to believe when you arrive at our beautiful B&B with its peaceful gardens overlooking the Hertfordshire countryside that it is situated only 4 miles from Luton town centre, and 2.5 miles from London Luton Airport! And yet we are never disturbed by any noise.

Our guests often ask us where they can go and what they can do during their stay with us – and if they would like to explore Luton, we recommend that they visit these places in and around Luton…

First the history bit – Luton began when the Saxons conquered Bedfordshire in the sixth century and created a settlement called a tun by the river Lea. It is recorded in the Domesday Book as “Loitone”.

The town went on to become immortalised in a 1970s Campari advert starring Lorraine Chase in which she was asked by Leonard Rossiter “Were you truly wafted here from paradise?” to which she answered: “Nah, Luton Airport.”

Luton Airport, went on to become the fourth largest airport serving London, and is a base for easyJet and Ryanair. We have many happy residents staying with us at Lodge Farm House before jetting off to sunnier climates from Luton Airport. We offer residents extended onsite parking at Lodge Farm House during their time away, so they can return with the confidence that their cars have been kept safe and not driven during their time away.

If it’s nature and the great outdoors that takes your fancy, we often suggest Woodside Animal Farm and Leisure Park. It’s a great family day out where you can get up close and personal with the animals, feed them, pet them and even cuddle them during their ‘Cuddly Encounters’ hands on sessions.

As well as the wide range of farm, zoo and exotic animals there are tractor and trailer rides, animal demonstrations, a mini fun fair, crazy golf and lots of outdoor play fun. For rainy days and when the kids just want to run wild there’s the heated indoor soft play centre and cafe serving hot meals and snacks, a selection of rich and warming coffees and a tempting range of delicious cakes and treats.

Their well stocked gift shop has a good range of gifts, toys and pocket money treats. Along with their award-winning poultry centre which stocks a vast range of livestock, feed and accessories, and friendly helpful staff are on hand to give you all the advice you need! (Luton LU1 4DG)

On hot sunny days, why not explore Wrest Park, an English Heritage site set in 92 acres of award-winning gardens with dazzling parterres and fragrant borders, to sweeping views and woodland walks, Wrest Park is a real treat for the senses. Areas of the main house are also open to the public; a particularly nice touch is the library which is filled with period books. You have the option of taking a picnic or taking refreshments in the café, making use of the children’s play area, and exploring the hidden treasures in the archaeological stores. Events are run throughout the year providing great family entertainment. All the facilities are well maintained and there is plenty of hassle-free parking. (Luton MK45 4HR)

If you are a culture vulture why not give Wardown House, Museum and Gallery a whirl!

(This is a side of Luton that people don’t often hear about.)

This local museum offers free entry and is based in a 19th century Victorian mansion house devoted to local history including an extensive section of displays devoted to the Luton hat industry.

Wardown Park has a playground for small children, a refreshment pavilion, tennis courts alongside the wonderful museum & gallery, all set in a lush green parkland. For the bird lovers amongst you the park river is populated by a plethora of water fowl. Don’t forget your camera! (Luton LU2 7HA)

For all the shopaholics out there, you could choose to visit the Mall Luton; with so many shops all under one roof, you will be able to shop for all of the latest fashions and technologies. It has ample parking and restaurants available which all make for a great shopping experience. (Luton LU1 2HN)

We hope that has given you some ideas and food for thought for what is available to do during your stay with us at Lodge Farm House. However, with its warm atmosphere, lovely gardens, wonderful views and beautifully decorated comfortable rooms you may not want to leave the grounds of our wonderfully peaceful guest house!! We look forward to welcoming you to our peaceful guest house. See you soon!

Another fabulous wedding held at Lodge Farm House for Rosie & Marcus!

Rosie and Marcus chose Saturday 15th July to hold their wonderful wedding at our beautiful countryside location. It seemed very fitting that the couple chose Lodge Farm House as their wedding venue, as Marcus is an Equine Vet. With our working livery on site and horses available for photo shoots it was the perfect choice!

Rosie and her bridesmaids checked in at Lodge Farm Band B on Friday afternoon and spent time with their event manager Laura from Kingfisher catering ensuring that everything was in place and planned to perfection.

The 3-hat tipi structure was decorated and personalised ready for the big day. Thanks to Richard and his team from Country Tipis for setting up such a stunning structure so professionally. The fire pit made for a stunning feature within the structure and a real talking point.

Celebrations started early with Rosie, her parents and her 3 gorgeous bridesmaids enjoying a home-cooked meal cooked the evening before their ceremony in the relaxing dining room at Lodge Farm House. Prosecco corks were popped and everyone enjoyed an evening of conversation in anticipation and excitement for the special day ahead.

Following a good night’s sleep in their comfortable rooms at our award-winning guest house, the morning started with breakfast and lots of coffee! Then the hair and beauty ladies from the Amore Salon in Hitchin worked their magic on the bride and bridesmaids, making them even more beautiful than they naturally are.

The grounds of Lodge Farm House were buzzing with activity, with everyone involved providing all the finishing touches to ensure everything was in place. Claire from Heaven Flowers added a great splash of colour with her amazing flower display at the front of the structure.

Everyone was ready and polished to perfection in their beautiful dresses, carrying beautiful bouquets and all very happy and excited to get the wedding started!

The vintage car arrived in good time to transport the bride, her bridesmaids and her very proud father to Christ Church in Hitchin.

Once the ceremony had taken place, the wedding party returned to Lodge Farm House with their guests to enjoy reception drinks of Prosecco and beers on the terrace and lawns. Before making their way into the beautifully decorated tipi for the wedding breakfast and speeches photographs were taken in the stunning grounds by Belle Momenti Photography, creating special memories to treasure.

The couple enjoyed a 3-course meal provided by the wonderful staff at Kingfisher catering. The smoked salmon starter, rump of lamb main and trio of desserts looked amazing. Guests commented on how delicious the food was, so again we would like to give a shout out to Laura and John from Kingfisher for making it all happen so effortlessly.

James McGuire Musician provided live music throughout the day and a disco which went on throughout the evening allowing everyone to enjoy the party, singing, dancing and celebrating with our happy newlyweds Rosie and Marcus.

We would like to take this opportunity to give huge congratulations & best wishes to Rosie & Marcus the new Mr & Mrs Bennett from everyone at Lodge Farm House guest house!!

If you would like the contact details of any of these wedding suppliers or more information about our wedding packages please contact us. we’d be delighted to show you around our exclusive venue.
